Run 4 Wales encourages students into a career in events
Run 4 Wales spent the day encouraging young people to look at a career in the events industry at a conference in Swansea.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive at Run 4 Wales, engaged with students across a range of colleges at the ITT Future You Wales to the World event at Swansea Arena on 27th February.
The conference and careers fair was organised by students at University of Wales Trinity Saint David for around 500 students on behalf of the Institute of Travel & Tourism.
Matt was in attendance with Event Wales as the chair of their sports subgroup alongside others in the event sector including travel companies, tour operators, event venues and hospitality providers.
The interactive event which included a range of speakers from around the globe hoped to provide an opportunity for those attending to network and meet with industry experts and give them an understanding of the wide range of opportunities available across the industry in Wales – and around the world.
Matt, who is an alumni of Swansea University which was part of the University of Wales at the time, said: “It was a fantastic day engaging with so many students and chatting to them about the diversity of the Welsh events sector – particularly around sport and mass participation events.
“The students who organised the conference did a brilliant job and I hope all of those in attendance left feeling more informed and excited about pursuing a career in events.”
