New bespoke offering for charities at Principality Cardiff Half Marathon
Charities looking to get involved with the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon are being offered a new fundraising pathway by race organisers.
The innovative offering will allow them to build their own bespoke fundraising package at one of the UK’s biggest and best running events in the heart of the Welsh capital.
First, they will be able to choose the number of fundraising spaces they need, which will include several complimentary marketing benefits. They will then have the option to purchase further standard or premium marketing bundles and up to four additional activity bundles to help increase remittance levels and encourage supporters complete their fundraiser journey.
Deborah Powell, Director at event organisers Run 4 Wales, said: “The Cardiff Half attracts runners from across Wales, the UK and beyond and sells out year after year. This means that for many, the only way they can secure a spot is by supporting a good cause.
“More than ever, we’re seeing that participants are choosing to run for charity, raising over £400 each on average. This is at least a 4:1 return on investment for charities booking up places at the event. However, fundraising places are limited, so they need to be quick – particularly if they want to take advantage of our early bird pricing.”
The Principality Cardiff Half has been awarded with an Elite Road Race Label by World Athletics, meaning it’s one of the leading road races in the World.
Tens of thousands of participants and spectators attend each year and more than 30% of the field run for a good cause, raising in excess of £3 million for charities.
The event has sold out every year since 2016 and demand for next year’s race on Sunday 6 October has already hit record levels, with over 10,000 people securing a space within a week of launching.
Run 4 Wales is anticipating an early sell-out which means charities can rely on an industry leading ‘sell-on’ rate of nearly 90% – with the majority of official charities hitting or exceeding this.
Deborah added: “This new bundle model for charities means they can have total control of creating a package that is best suited to their needs. Rather than the number of entry spaces correlating to benefits based on volume, charities can decide how many spaces they want to fill and bolt on added extras such as a marquee in the event area, training plans or further marketing, no matter how many spaces they’ve signed up for.
“We believe this will help them maximise their fundraising potential and ensure they’re getting the best value for their budget while being part of Wales’ largest mass-participation event.”
Fundraiser spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Early bird pricing of £85 per space is available until 31 January 2024 when they will then be priced at £100 until sell-out.
Charities can upgrade to a standard or premium marketing bundle or bolt on up to four additional activity bundles at extra cost. These include supporter, training, warm up and family fundraising bundles.
