Run 4 Wales 10K Series returns for 2024
Runners looking to fill their calendars with a series of exciting 10K races can now enter several popular events across South Wales.
Entries are now live for the 2024 events taking place in Newport, Cardiff Bay, Porthcawl and Cardiff City Centre, with a discounted Multi-Buy Offer available until mid-January.
The event series will kick-off with the ABP Newport Wales 10K on Sunday 28 April. This fast route forms part of a festival of running alongside the Newport Marathon and new half marathon, giving runners of all abilities the opportunity to take in the marathon atmosphere.
Helen Thomas, Head of Property for ABP’s Wales & Short Sea Ports said: “ABP is proud to return as the Title Sponsor and we’re thrilled to continue to support this fantastic event, which has become a staple in the spring running calendar and a flagship event for the Newport community.”
The Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K is next on Sunday 19 May taking in the Welsh capital’s iconic waterfront landmarks. This event provides a flat course for those looking to secure a PB.
Dr Lee Campbell, Head of Research at Cancer Research Wales, lead charity partner of the Brecon Carreg Cardiff Bay 10K, said: “We’re really excited to be the lead charity partner for this fun, friendly event and building up a team of incredible fundraisers to take part.
“As Wales’ only independent cancer research charity, every penny raised stays in Wales to support lifesaving and life extending cancer research.”
The Ogi Porthcawl 10K follows on Sunday 7 July in the town best known for its surf, sports and coastal walks. Its route showcases beautiful beaches, the iconic lighthouse and historic Grand Pavilion.
Commenting at the launch, Ogi’s Head of Brand and Engagement, Sarah Vining, said: “We’re delighted to be returning as headline sponsor of the Ogi Porthcawl 10K for 2024. After a fantastic year in 2023 that saw thousands of runners take part in the main event, and hundreds of school children join our Ogi Jogi, we just couldn’t say no to returning to the historic Esplanade.
“As we continue our full fibre broadband rollout across Porthcawl, we hope 2024 will be an even bigger race, and can’t wait to get started on its planning with our partners at Run4Wales.”
The series then wraps up with the popular CDF 10K on Sunday 1 September, offering runners a sightseeing tour of the Welsh capital including Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium and some of the city’s best loved green spaces.
Ross Evans, Managing Director at Kidney Wales, lead charity partner at the CDF 10K, added: “After a successful return in 2023, we are excited to be working with Run 4 Wales again for the CDF 10K 2024. This event has enabled us to support thousands of kidney patients through their lifelong kidney journey and acts as a platform to raise awareness about kidney disease and kidney health.”
While runners will be able to enjoy the iconic views in each event, each medal obtained will also come together to create a special collectable set for 2024.
All four races will also be supported by several junior events including toddler dashes, fun runs and competitive Future Challengers races.
Matt Newman, Chief Executive of event organiser Run 4 Wales, said: “We’re excited to bring back our R4W 10K Series for 2024.
“These events are suitable for runners of all abilities whether they’re taking on their first 10K race or looking to take home a PB on one of our fast and flat courses, they’re well supported, a lot of fun and will have a fantastic atmosphere.”
He added: “We are not able to include the ABP Barry Island 10K in the R4W 10K Series Multi-Buy Offer for 2024 as a date has not been confirmed for the event. Discussions are ongoing with the Vale of Glamorgan Council.”
Runners will be able to save up to £29 on the cost of race entry with the R4W 10K Series Multi-Buy Offer. Participants entering all four events in the 10K series will save 25%, those who wish to enter three events will save 20% and entering two events will provide a saving of 15%. The time limited offer is available until 12 January 2024, so runners are encouraged to register early to avoid disappointment.
